Morocco

 Morocco

I walk under
the night's icy fire
of winter stars
in constellations
that glitter and shine
in blue- black heavens
like the dark eyes
of Moroccan women.

Moonlight yearning,
star light burning,
white desert light turning
all around me.

As I travel
on this desert road,
the many miles
have made me weary
of the bitter sun
and sand that blinds me,
until the wind dies
in tranquility.

Moonlight yearning,
starlight burning,
white desert light turning
all around me.

Far away now,
a lighted village
glows on a hill
and reels in my mind;
and when I get closer,
I'm grateful to find
a tavern that pulses
with music and wine.

Moonlight yearning,
starlight burning,
white desert light turning
all around me.
