Blue Helium Sky

My Life Now

This is the moment
when the harmonium playing
inside of me
reaches the perfect note.
And all that I see
is charged with a healing
power that touches me warmly.

Outside my window,
the November sky pours a blue,
Pizzaro light
through the afternoon.
From its immense height,
the sun washes down on the tan,
store building across the street.

These nights, I drift
to sleep on a tranquil sea
a block from Highway 99,
listening to the traffic
dying away in dream time.

I’ve found my way back
to the old equilibrium
that I had lost
many years ago.
No laughter accosts
me now from the dark hallways
vanished like early frost.

Suddenly, the wounds
have fused in my consciousness,
as cirrus clouds
float by in pale wisps.
Stranger’s voices so loud
in derision have faded
to a place unavowed.

These nights, I drift
to sleep on a tranquil sea
a block from Highway 99,
listening to the traffic
dying away in dream time.
